A Brand New Film Festival with a 17 Years and Under Category
We could tear it up with this festival! I am of the opinion that there are no better young filmmakers anywhere else in the state than those here at our school!
This is an exciting opportunity. Not many festivals have a category for youth 17 years and under. This festival has cash prizes (awesome), and being that it is a new festival, they have stated that any films you have made in the last 4 or 5 years are completely eligible.
If you are interested, please read the rules and guidelines carefully on the website before submitting to ensure your film is eligible. Enter multiple films! Up your chances!
The deadline for entry is April 15th. That gives you a few months to finish up some current films you may be working on.
Getting your movies in festivals is an excellent idea. It helps others see your work. It ups your movie's credibility. And, it is just tons of fun. Compete with other youth across the world!
If you're older than 17 and want to submit, never fear, just submit your work to the regular category. You won't be able to be a part of the 17 and younger competition (I know how you feel, I can't submit to that category either), but there are plenty of other rad categories for us older folks to submit to in this festival.
Click on this link for the rules, guidelines, how to submit, etc.

Submit to the "It's Only a Movie: Horror Movie Film Festival"
It's that delightfully creepy time of year! Halloween is around the corner, and with it comes the annual "It's Only a Movie" film festival.
This festival is a wonderful opportunity for you all to submit your work! Most film festivals cost big bucks to submit a film. This festival? It is free! There is no submission fee! If you think you'd like to make a horror film that is 5 minutes or less, or if you have made one in the past that you're really proud of and want to submit it, I encourage you to do so! People from all around the state of Utah, of all ages (an 8 year old submitted one year (her film was brilliant), and people all the way into their 60s and older have had their work seen). Their are prizes, and the event is one of my favorite of the year. It is a truly wonderful fest!
For info on submitting and to see previous submissions, check out their website: http://www.itsonlyamoviefest.com/
Here is the intro film from last year - if gives you a good taste of the kind of joyfulness this festival is all about. If you love horror, horror-comedy, and Halloween, this festival is for you!
Even if you don't submit a film, it is still a joy to attend, and well worth every penny of the small admission price of a mere five bucks. Hope to see you there!
Here is the festival's purpose and mission:

“It's Only a Movie” Short Horror Film Festival is a celebration of local artists, filmmakers, and Halloween. The two hour event is an audience choice competition of short horror films (5-minutes or less). 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners receive cash prizes ($300, $200, $100) and a trophy, custom designed and sculpted by local artist Emily Jacobson. There is also a prize for best costume.
The event was founded by Utah filmmakers Vanessa and Joseph Winter to provide local filmmakers with a chance to experience their work in a movie theater with an enthusiastic audience and to provide unusual, fun, and creative content to filmgoers.
Join us on October 29th for the funnest Halloween party of the year!
