THE CURIOUS CASE OF THE MISSING HARD DRIVES

Hello, our wonderful EHHS students new and old! Did any of you use an external HARD DRIVE that belongs to the school this year? We are missing a handful of hard drives, and would love to get them back. The content on the drives mean so much to us!

If you've used one, or know someone who used one, anytime this school year (or last school year), and still might have it at home, in your locker, backpack, anywhere around, and keep forgetting to get it back to us, I know how easy it is to forget to bring those back.

Please return them to Josh or Will, it'd make our day! One of the hard drives was named Edgar Wright, if that helps any of you remember where he might be. We really miss Edgar. The other ones I think are labeled "Backup Copy", or "Step Larpers". Returning them would mean getting back hundreds of hours of work we've put into making cool movies to share with the world. Bringing them back would make you heroes! HEROES!!!! :) :) :)

THANK YOU!!!!!

See a Cool Movie at FILMQUEST This Weekend

FILMQUEST is a cool film festival showing fantasy and horror genre pieces! This weekend it is showing this particular film: The Faceless Man.

We met the filmmakers in L.A. this summer, and they are fantastic people, and this is a fantastic film. It is right up there with the kind of movies we love at East Hollywood, and attending festivals like this serve some great purposes. 1) They are inspiring! Watching short films made by independent artist is always a great, creativity promoting exercise. 2) You meet the filmmakers, which is super duper handy! Networking is awesome!

This film screens this Saturday, Sept. 16th, at 11am at the Covey Center in Provo (425 Center St, Provo, UT 84601).

Student prices for tickets are just $6 per screening! Nice!

Chance to Crew or Act in a Film

Will and I received this message from a student at another school:

Hello!
My name is Carson and I am a Junior over at Itineris in West Jordan. I'm working on a student short film in November and I was wondering if any students at East Hollywood would be interested in working on the project. I need to fill acting roles, a slater spot, boom op, sound mixer, AC, etc.

Filming is currently set for November 10th and 11th in West Jordan, UT.

If there was any way I could get out word of this project to the students at your school, that would be really great!

If someone is interested, it'd be great if they could contact me at this email (davyyells@gmail.com).
And also, I do need to cast a few characters so here's a casting call just in case someone at EHHS would like to audition.

CASTING CALL:
"Bully" - Student Short Film
Dates: November 10th, 11th
Location: West Jordan, UT
No Pay
Cast is the following (3 Male roles, 1 Female):
Jack (15-18) -
A pretty boy, good looking, leader of a band of rude friends. Similar to "Sid" from Toy Story in terms of personality. Good looking though.
Jeremy (15-18) -
Timid but slightly off boy. A new kid who gets bullied by the main character on one occasion. Must be able to be slightly creepy without overdoing it.
Chelsey (15-18) -
Girlfriend of Jack. Complains often and makes Jack take care of any problems she has. Very rude girl and inconsiderate.
Thanks so much for all your help!
Carson McKinnon

A Brand New Film Festival with a 17 Years and Under Category

We could tear it up with this festival!  I am of the opinion that there are no better young filmmakers anywhere else in the state than those here at our school!

This is an exciting opportunity.  Not many festivals have a category for youth 17 years and under.  This festival has cash prizes (awesome), and being that it is a new festival, they have stated that any films you have made in the last 4 or 5 years are completely eligible.

If you are interested, please read the rules and guidelines carefully on the website before submitting to ensure your film is eligible.  Enter multiple films!  Up your chances!

The deadline for entry is April 15th.  That gives you a few months to finish up some current films you may be working on.

Getting your movies in festivals is an excellent idea.  It helps others see your work.  It ups your movie's credibility.  And, it is just tons of fun.  Compete with other youth across the world!

If you're older than 17 and want to submit, never fear, just submit your work to the regular category.  You won't be able to be a part of the 17 and younger competition (I know how you feel, I can't submit to that category either), but there are plenty of other rad categories for us older folks to submit to in this festival.

Click on this link for the rules, guidelines, how to submit, etc.
